Meter Rider is a mobile application operated by Meter Rider Technologies (“we”, “us”, “our”). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect information when drivers use the Meter Rider app and related services.

1. Scope

This Privacy Policy applies only to drivers who use the Meter Rider mobile application and our website meterrider.in. Meter Rider does not provide services directly to passengers and does not create any direct relationship between Meter Rider and passengers.

2. Information We Collect

2.1 Account Information

  • Name
  • Mobile number
  • Email address
  • Profile photo (optional)
  • Vehicle details (auto registration number, vehicle type, etc.)

2.2 Location Information

We may collect GPS location while the app is running (foreground or background) to enable features such as trip tracking, digital meter calculation, and driver availability. Location data is used only for driver-facing features and operation of the platform. Meter Rider does not provide location tracking directly to passengers.

2.3 Usage and Device Information

  • Device model and operating system
  • App version and language
  • Log data such as IP address, timestamps, and feature usage for analytics and security

2.4 Payment and Subscription Information

We may collect information related to driver subscription plans, payment status, and transaction identifiers processed via third-party payment gateways. We do not store full card details; those are handled by the payment provider.

3. How We Use Information

We use driver information to:

  • Create and manage driver accounts
  • Provide app features such as ride request alerts, digital meter, trip history, and earnings summaries
  • Manage driver subscriptions and payments
  • Improve app performance, reliability, and safety
  • Communicate with drivers about updates, support, and important notifications
  • Detect and prevent fraud, abuse, or violations of our Terms of Service
  • Comply with applicable laws and regulations

4. Sharing of Information

We may share information in the following limited situations:

  • Service Providers: With third-party vendors who help us with hosting, analytics, payments, SMS/notifications, and customer support, bound by confidentiality and data protection obligations.
  • Legal Requirements: If required by law, court order, or government request, or to protect our legal rights, property, or safety.
  • Business Transfers: In case of merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, driver data may be transferred as part of the business.

Meter Rider does not sell driver personal data to third parties.

5. Data Retention

We retain driver data for as long as necessary to provide the services, maintain driver accounts, meet legal or regulatory requirements, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements. When data is no longer required, we will delete or anonymize it in a reasonable manner.

6. Data Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect driver data from unauthorized access, loss, or misuse. However, no system can be guaranteed to be completely secure. Drivers should keep their login credentials confidential and notify us immediately of any suspected unauthorized access.

7. Children’s Privacy

Meter Rider is intended for adult professional drivers only. The service is not directed to children under 18 years of age, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

8. Your Rights and Choices

Depending on applicable law, drivers may have rights to:

  • Access the personal information we hold about them
  • Request correction of inaccurate information
  • Request deletion of certain data (subject to legal obligations)
  • Opt out of non-essential communications

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top will indicate the latest version. Significant changes may be communicated in-app or via email.
